Generational Cohorts, Sustainable Development Goals, Sustainability, Generation Z, Bibliometric Analysis, Network Analysis.
AuthorsAbstractThe Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have emerged as a global set of goals to tackle social, economic, and environmental challenges. At the same time, generational cohorts such as Baby Boomers, Generation X, Millennials, and Generation Z are important drivers of sustainability-related attitudes and behaviours. In this study, the global research landscape at the intersection of generational cohorts and SDGs is explored with a bibliometric and network analysis. The data were retrieved from the Scopus database, and the inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied, which resulted in 1883 journal articles in the English language being retained for analysis. The biblioshiny and VOSviewer software were employed to analyse publication trends, influential authors, journals, countries, collaboration networks, co-citation patterns, and relationships between keywords. The results show a significant increase in publications after 2015, in the wake of the UN 2030 Agenda. The top journal was Sustainability (Switzerland), and the top contributors were from the United States, China, India, and Malaysia. The key research themes are Generation Z, sustainability, consumer behaviour, social media, mental health, and environmental responsibility.
